Sadly, we had four large Colorado Blue Spruce trees in the landscaped entryway damaged by the severe windstorm which hit the metro on June 27th. One of the massive trees, standing nearly 25 feet tall, was completely toppled by the raging straight-line winds.
The Cedar Brook Homeowners Association has commissioned the removal and disposal of the lost tree, but the good news is, it appears the remaining three damaged spruce trees will survive, this after a couple hours of winching upright (they leaned at a 60-degree angle) and back filling of the root balls.
Area residents have no doubt noticed the improvements made on the entrance island as well. A dozen yards of redwood mulch was brought in, four more spirea bushes planted, and a variety of day lilies and roses installed. Also, the lights illuminating the Cedar Brook entrance sign have been repaired (again!), hopefully for the last time.
Sounds like everyone had a successful neighborhood garage sale last month and the Fourth of July festivities went off without a hitch.
Drive slow, watch out for those kids, and have a safe, fun filled summer!
