Hello Cedar Brook!  HAPPY SUMMER!!!!  The beautiful days are finally here!  Let’s hope they stay awhile.
First order of business…. Neighborhood Watch
We are working to get a Neighborhood Watch committee put together.  We need a few more volunteers to step up to help with this.  If you are interested please email cedarbrookhoa@gmail.com as soon as you can.  We are putting together some meeting times right now to get this rolling. There is no cost to join, just your time, and will only make our community stronger.
Remember….if you see anything or anyone that seems suspicious, please feel free to contact the HOA.  If it is very serious situation, of course call 9-1-1.

Here are some quick basic home security measures you can do….

·         exterior lighting to illuminate dark/shadowed areas

·         keep garage doors closed

·         keep trees and bushes trimmed to eliminate “hiding spots”

·         windows in good repair with locks

·         strong deadbolt lock extending at least 1 inch

·         keep an inventory and photographs of your valuables
Parents please be sure to talk to your kids about “Stranger Danger. No adult should need directions or need to address questions to a child.
Things you can discuss with your kids….

·         do not talk to strangers

·         do not accept gifts of any kind

·         do not help a stranger look for a lost puppy

·         stay in groups

·         run away from a stranger and run straight home

·         having a code word if they need to be picked up by someone other than you

Some other points of focus for safety and concerns….

·         wear helmets when riding a bikes, skateboards, roller blades etc.

·         please be aware of your speed when driving through the neighborhood

·         when walking with your dogs, please be sure they are on a leash. And again, please pick up after your dogs.

Second Order Of Business…… Caring for Cedar Brook Committee
Our volunteers have been working hard getting the entrance and round-a-bout looking better.  With our new plants and LOTS of weeding, both areas are looking fantastic. If you would like to be a part of the Caring for Cedar Brook Committee, please email cedarbrookhoa@gmail.com
In case you were not aware, we are doing a “YARD OF THE YEAR” contest this year.  Yards will be judged throughout the spring and summer, to be announced at the beginning of fall.  Keep those yards up and looking great and you could be in the running for YARD OF THE YEAR!
A quick side note….please be kind to pickup 4th of July remnants out of the streets and yards.  We all love the sparkly shows, but the litter it leaves behind can be messy.
Finally, if you are having trouble keeping up with your mowing, the HOA has a list of available teenagers that are looking for some mowing business.  Please email us at cedarbrookhoa@gmail.com for more information and we can get you connected with these kids.  It would be a great experience for the kids and could save you some time and money!
Third order of business FUN…..  Upcoming 2014 neighborhood social gatherings...
Ice Cream Social…. Sept 5th 7pm at the park, Cedar Brook Park
Fun Fall party……….October/November- TBD Cedar Brook Park
Fall Clean Up………October- TBD

Please find us on Facebook!! Look for us under Cedar Brook HOA.  We also have a neighborhood blog at Cedarbrookhomeowners.blogspot.  Both will have neighborhood updates and meeting minutes.  Feel free to direct any questions/concerns or to request a copy of the meeting minutes to the neighborhood email at cedarbrookhoa@gmail.com.  If you are not already receiving the neighborhood emails and would like to, please send us a little note to this address.
Thank you all for being a part of Cedar Brook!  Our little community is a great place because of you!
