Spring is in the air

Greetings fellow Cedar Brook residents! Spring has officially sprung despite the chilly temps and rainy weather we're experiencing. Have no fear, the heat's right around the corner.

You'll see some expert landscaping updates going on at the entrance island at 132nd and Nebraska Avenue in the coming weeks. Clean Cut Lawn & Landscape will be installing roses, day lilies, ornamental bushes and fresh mulch. This is the one and only entrance to our humble burg, so we want owners, visitors and prospective buyers to be impressed with a tidy and well manicured appearance.

Also, please take note, yearly membership dues will be mailed out in the month of June. Dues cover the time frame of Jan. 1 through Dec. 31st, but we bill mid-year to avoid adding to families' Christmastime finances. If you have questions about the dues, why they're mandatory for all owners (even non-resident owners), and what the monies collected are used for, please refer to this previous post.

We will do another neighborhood garage sale this year. If you have comments or ideas about other community activities that might be of benefit to our residents, feel free to drop HOA leadership a line at the e-mail to the upper right.

Glad to see everyone made it through another cold and icy Omaha winter! Thanks for being a good neighbor, and drive safely!

Tree cutting along creek bed

Many residents along the south side of Nebraska Avenue have inquired about the trees being cut down on one side of the creek that runs east-west along our neighborhood.

According to the Sanitary Improvement District (SID), the trees have to be removed so a contractor can clean the creek channel. Douglas County and the Natural Resources District are concerned about ponding of water on the west side of 132nd Street being a hazard. This requires someone clean and lower the creek bed so the pond is eliminated.

The SID is looking at planting some replacement trees when the project is complete.

If anyone have any additional questions, they can call Tom Rasmussen @ 895-4700.

Thank you!
